i.) The primary mandate of the Department of Archives, Archaeology, and Museums is to preserve and conserve the tangible heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. The department looks after 54 protected monuments, archival records, and 02 museums. The department possesses one of the oldest and most priceless archival repositories and museums.
ii.) The Directorate of Libraries and Research aims to provide free and equitable access to knowledge and information using traditional and current technological methods to promote literacy and lifelong learning. It facilitates student-specific virtual services towards online access to resources for competitive examinations for job aspirants, researchers, start-ups, and general learners.
iii.) The Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL) serves the role of Sahitya Akademy (Akademi of Letters), Sangeet Natak Akademi (Akademi of Music, Dance and Drama), and Lalit Kala Akademi (Akademi of Arts) to provide an integrated approach and interdisciplinary cooperation and coordination between the three wings under one authority.
i.) The Department of Archives, Archaeology, and Museums provide archival records to scholars, students, historians, et al. to support heritage research works. The department's vision is to highlight the glorious past of Jammu & Kashmir through the artefacts housed in the museums and to boost heritage tourism. The department identifies more and more archaeological sites and monuments for their posterity in the future.
ii.)The vision of the Directorate of Libraries and Research is to transform Public Libraries in J&K from collection-based repositories to service-based institutions. A single point of contact for youth to navigate the available global resources for admission guidance, scholarships, coaching, mentoring, career counselling, entrepreneurship, and job opportunities. It is done by capitalizing on the latest technologies and striking new partnerships with community groups and government agencies.
iii.)The Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL) visions to promote cooperation among art, literature, and cultural associations for the holistic development of art, literature, and culture in the Union territory.
